At 236 meters tall and located on top of Mount Namsan in the heart of Seoul, Seoul Tower or N Tower is an ideal place to have a bird’s eye of the city.
Upon arrival, we bought our tickets and lined up for the “elenator” (spelling intended) that was to take us to the top at a SHOCKING speed.
We did not have a shocking nor eventful ride. Just one where I stared at my toes and glanced at the young uniformed female attendant manning the elevator. Unfortunately, she did not look like a typical Korean actress. In less than 2 glances, we arrived at the viewing platform on the top of the tower.
I have been to many tall towers before and this was another one of the same, in terms of views. It was a rainy day and skies were not that clear but nevertheless, a nice panoramic view of the city could be seen.
Panoramic view of Seoul City above (stitched from several photos).
The sun were setting a little and its reflection made the Han River golden against the grey scene.
There are four levels on the observation deck, housing several shops, cafes and restaurants. The viewing platform is circular offering 360 degrees view of Seoul city and telescopes are available if you want a closer look of points of interest.
Can’t see Singapore from the tower even if you try!
We did spot some Korean drama personalities…
A.N.J.E.L.L (from You are Beautiful drama) was there at the top of Seoul tower…..
….in the form of cut board figurines at a shop selling beauty products.
What differentiates Seoul Tower from the other towers that I had been to is that this place had became an icon of love and friendship for locals and visitors.
You could leave a note on the Love Message Block with your partner or love ones for all to see. And come back many years later to look for it again.
OR
You could send your best regards to your loved ones from Seoul’s highest post office.
It is not just “Love is in the Air”.
Love is on the Ground too.
The foot of the tower is also another prominent place for lovers to make a Promise for Endless Love. From old times, there was a story that if lovers make a wish a shrine on Namsan (where Seoul Tower sits), it becomes true. Since then, this place became the symbol of the place of promising an everlasting love for couples when they hang a lock together – A Lock of Love… and throwing away the keys down the mountain.
One last thing, …. you can FALL IN LOVE too, at the top of Seoul tower. Just bring your partner and stamp on the floor when you are at the top of the tower to experience this (below).
Falling in love at Seoul Tower
Seoul Tower would be a a place to visit, if you are in Seoul, especially on Valentine’s Day.
